Fun Facts About The First Days Of KISS

KISS is one of the most important rock bands of the last 50 years, and like all public figures, there are facts about the band that are sure to leave you shocked. Here are some interesting facts from the early days of the band we bet only die-hard fans would know.

  1. They’ve Performed as A Trio Twice.

Because guitarists and drummers frequently change, it was not surprising KISS had to perform twice with just three members. 1992 was the first time it occurred when Frehley was deciding whether or not to leave the band. It also happened again in 2007 when Stanley was unexpectedly hospitalized before a show. It is the only KISS performance Stanley has ever missed. That is dedication!

A wrestling group called “The Warriors of Kiss” was formed by KISS and World Championship Wrestling in 1999. The group included wrestlers chosen to represent each member of the band, as well as female counterparts. According to Simmons, “big girls with big boobs, dressed in KISS makeup were going to wrestle.” That sounded great for ratings, but the schedule couldn’t be worked out as a result of WCW politics.

In 1978, KISS was asked to be the villain band for the film “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely-Hearts Club Band,” which was based on The Beatles’ album of the same name. The Kiss team feared that they would look bad and ruin their image, so they chose not to do it. Imagine how that would have turned out!
